Southwestern Ontario is home to many different types of trees. Some are native to the area, while others have been introduced by people. This blog post will introduce you to some of the most common tree types in this region.

 

What Are The Biggest Trees In Ontario?

There are many different types of trees in Ontario, and they all come in different sizes, shapes and colours! When it comes to the largest trees in Ontario the White Pine tree wins the title. White pine trees can grow to be over 80 meters tall! These beautiful trees are native to the province and can be found in many different parts of Ontario.

 

What Are The Most Common Trees Found In Ontario?

There are many different types of trees in Ontario, but some are more common than others. The most common tree type you’ll see in Ontario is the Black Spruce tree. The Black Spruce tree is a native tree to the province and is usually found in wet forested areas. These trees can grow to be around 30 meters tall and are easily recognized by their dark green needles.

Another one of the most common types of trees you will see in Ontario is the Poplar Tree, also known as the Aspen tree. The Poplar tree is not a native tree to the province but was introduced by people many years ago. These trees are usually found in open fields and along roadsides. Poplar trees can grow to be around 20 meters tall and have bright green leaves that turn yellow in the fall.

 

Next, we have the Jack Pine Tree. The Jack Pine Tree is the third most common tree found in Ontario. This tree is also a native tree to the province and can be found in many different parts of Ontario. Jack Pine Trees usually grow to be around 15 meters tall and have long needles that are green on the bottom and blue-green on the top.

 

The fourth tree on our list is the Sugar Maple Tree. The Sugar Maple Tree is one of the most iconic trees in Ontario and is the National Tree of Canada. These trees are native to Ontario and can be found throughout the province. The Sugar Maple tree is known for its beautiful fall colours and delicious syrup.

Last but definitely not least, we have the White Pine Tree. The White Pine Tree is the fifth most common tree found in Ontario and is known as the provinces official tree. These trees can grow to be over 80 meters tall and are easily recognized by their long needles and white bark.
